Traducción e interpretación : Problemas presentes en la IV Égloga de Virgilio

Abstract

Vergil’s IVth eclogue presents certain verses where the translation must be carefully examined to avoid the clouding of the poem’s meaning. It is necessary to shed light on the cosmological view and the conception of time that the poet whishes to express to be able to translate accurately the text so as not to alter its unity and coherence. The problematic spots to be examined are: v. 5 ‘ab integro’; v. 8 ‘puero, quo’; v. 11 ‘decus hoc aevi’; v. 34-36: ‘alter’, ‘altera’, ‘altera’; v. 60 ‘risu’; v. 62 ‘risere parentes / parentem /parenti’.
