Abstract

Inside of the mural civil painting of Mexico (XVI century) we place two anonymous iconological series in two rooms of the Dean's House situated in town of Puebla: Sibyls and Triunphs painted in 1580. We analize the possible source of the sibylline archetype, its number, features, the composition of the sequence and the problems it presents. We follow the same procedure for the Triumphs, whose literary source are the F. Petrarca's Trionfi; other elements to consider are the friezes or ornamental borders that put a picture frame to each series with tropical American flora and fauna. We close this exposition with the type of the fine and achieved synthesis
