Abstract

From its possible origins to its present condition, we do a brief history of the building known as Tower of the Winds; this was built in the quarter of Plaka in Athens; we study its religious-meteorological functions and we reconstitute from illustrative engravings its architectonical developrnent. We are interested especially in the friezes of eight winds with their orientations and functions that we describe, and particularly in the Notos or Auster, name that the Center of Latin Studies has choosed for its periodical review
